Grouses from a driver

The other day I was driving on the fastest lane and there was this tortise in front of me driving at say 60kmh. Granted it was a normal road and not an expressway, but hogging the fastest lane is not the way right?? The 2nd (middle) lane was also taken up by another tortise, in fact, the 2 tortises were driving SIDE BY SIDE. Hello, both of you think you are fighterjets flying in formation on National Day izzit?? It amazes me that people can drive without checking their rearview mirrors. Cannot see a red car switching from lane to lane trying to overtake you meh? (I have even seen a woman driving with BOTH her side mirrors retracted, yes BOTH. )

The extreme left lane was full of other heavy(read: slow) vehicles and i had no chance to overtake the 2 tortises at all. I could see that the traffic lights ahead were green and i wanted to speed past before it turned amber. But alas, the 2 tortises continued driving oh-so-slowly.

As luck will have it, the lights turned amber just as the 2 tortises neared the junction. They happily SPED up and drove through the junction. Being a law-abiding citizen (ahem!), yours truly did not attempt to beat the red light and simply stopped and muttered some expletives. Grr...

This is only one example of the 101 things that irritate me on the road. There are people who don't check their blind spots, who think the extreme right lane of the expressway is for driving at 80kmh, people who step on the brakes every 5 seconds (hello, are there snakes on the expressway?), tortises who decide to switch to the fastest lane and come in front of me when I am happily crusing at 130khm-thus causing me to brake, those that can't keep to their own lane even if their lives depended on this one skill etcetc.

Those that take the cake will be drivers that have caused a near accident (if not for my high level of situation awareness and fast reflexes *pat myself on my back*) but have a blank huh-what-happened look with their mouths agape after i have given them a resounding horn and drive past them with a glare.

And I have not even started on pedestrians who continue to sashay across the road when the lights are green in my favor, cyclists who cycle 90 degress across 4 lanes of oncoming traffic, motorcyclists who swerve into my lane causing me to brake etc. Sigh, I could just go on and on.

Anyway, after the 2 tortises sped past the junction that day, I was fantasizing about how bad, inconsiderate, blur , clueless etc drivers should be punished while I was driving. I decided that the best would be compulsory refresher driving lessons- back to basics about no hogging of lanes, checking of blind spots, keeping in lane (so difficult meh?!?) *shake head*, and of course making sure side mirrors are extended properly BEFORE driving off and endangering poor unsuspecting drivers like me. Okay, before I digress further... A total of 30 to 60 hours to be completed depending on severity. Lessons to be attended every weekend, both Sat and Sun. Those who stay in the West will have to attend lessons at the Ubi Driving Centre. Those in the East to attend the Bukit Batok one. *evil glint* Fees to be paid by the offenders themselves of course. Hee hee!
