Had an epiphany the other day.
"Would we all be happier if we lived SIMPLY?"
I guess this probably came after I heard that a friend's younger sis just bought a HDB with the boyfriend. I was pretty, can I say amazed, when I heard that they qualified. I am not trying to be a holier-than-thou arse here, but honestly, I do not know of any friends/ couples whose combined income did not hit the max income ceiling to qualify for a HDB flat. The engaged couple seemed happy and contented, and that set me wondering.
Living simply (by my terms):
No lavish holidays e.g flying by SQ, staying in Banyan Tree, buying of Gucci, Miu Miu cos they are 'cheaper' as compared to Singapore
No private apt/ condo--->No bank mortgages---> don't need to worry about interest rates hikes
No car loans---> no lamenting of fuel prices and consumption, insurance, road tax.
No Jap meals (by Jap meals I do not mean Genki Sushi or Sushi Tei)
Will we all be happier if we stop chasing never ending dreams/ wants?
Does these dreams/ wants stem from social conditioning, or is it a case of keeping up with the joneses?
u wun understand it one la...
