Went to a friend's wedding over the weekend. Was happy for my friend and teary -eyed when they recited the marriage vows. It's just something about marriage vows- two people in love pledging to love and care for each other for the rest of their lives that I find touching (even more so if they are people close to you).
Was really glad that she finally found love in her forties and casually mentioned it to a friend that the groom was almost 10yrs younger - to which his response was 'Is she rich?'
Well, she does earn quite abit and the hubby could very well earn less or even less than half of what she is earning. Women marrying for money is pretty much 'normal' and common, but men??!
Modern love has evolved to such a sad state(??!).
Probably these kind of men do exist but I still believe they married for love. =)
marriages have always traditionally been a union of 2 people who often involve a lot more than just love. it has to be 门当户对. what has love got to do with anything at all? they haven't even seen each others' faces before, let alone know each other.
ReplyDeletemarriage for love is a more recent and "modern" (western) notion. (post romanticism i presume, i may be wrong)
