A girlfriend of mine is giving up everything here to move to London for a year. Renting out her precious District 15, sea-view studio apartment, selling her S60, and possibly quiting her job at a private bank if she can't secure an internal transfer.
All for a 5 month old relationship, a guy she knew for maybe 6 months. Some friends have said she may come back to Singapore, single and jobless, after learning that the dude was a caucasian. My view is, anything could happen, whether the partner is a caucasian, asian or whatever. Having an asian boyfriend does not mean one would not run the risk of being dumped in a faraway land. And staying here does not mean she will not get retrenched - the bank she is at has a reputation of retrenchments every time bonus time comes.
Nothing is forever. Or at least guaranteed. Not love, not that well paying job. But that is not to say she should not give it a shot.
