The other night I opened a new tube of Clarins Total Bodylift (nope it's not for fat people, it's for MAINTENANCE :p) and started to apply it diligently. The gel was very light, non-greasy and smelled very nice of citrus.
Certain smells brings back vivid memories of people, places I have been to, past events etc. I am sure it is the same for most people out there too. As i was applying it, i kept trying to recall where i had caught a whiff of this particular smell. but i just could not place a finger. Zero. no recollection at all.
Sigh. My brains are failing me.
i was still trying hard to recall while i was lying in bed, trying to fall asleep. I could still smell the light citrusy fragrance and there was just this persistent urge that kept on nagging at me - just where on earth did i smell it??
Before long, i drifted off to sleep... and had a fitful night, tossing and turning.
The human brain is such a powerful tool. Maybe the smell is associated with some unpleasant memories and my clever brain has stashed it somewhere in a corner and rendered it 'unretrievable'- just like how some trauma victims suffer a total blackout of certain traumatic events they went through? Sounds a bit far -fetched for my case but could very well be true? hmmm...
I am still wondering.
